Alexan
Soft, light blonde hair cascades from her head in a tumble of curls that flows down past her shoulders to her waist. Thick-lashed forest-green eyes look out from over high cheek bones, warring for attention with pouty, rose bud lips that are often curved in a mischievious smile. Her skin is pale and soft, marred only by a long red scar that runs diagonally accross her right palm. She's slight of height, a shade less than 4'9 with a touch of a muscular physique from an active lifestyle.
Alexan came to Xanadu from the High Reaches mountains, her 'family' having held a small beast hold there. At the age of thirteen turns, she was told by one of her brothers that she was not a true part of the family but was a fosterling, brought there after her mother's death. Having suffered abuse at the hands of the only family she had known, she decided to leave. She boarded a ship under the cover of darkness and hid until she was discovered by one of the crew and set on land at the first possible place. For days she wandered the jungle until she came upon the hold and, quickly, obtained a position in the kitchens.
During her time in the hold, she became acquainted with Gaederon, Assylem, and Trebore. It seemed that the girl took an instant dislike to all three as, every time they spoke to her kindly, she returned their words with biting remarks and glares. The time did come, however, that Trebore fell ill and she was sent for to bring a few things that the Assylem needed to tend for her ailing husband to be. She stayed on to help tend him and was surprised to be asked by Trebore to become their foster. Finally dropping the shield of anger she had kept up for so long, she agreed and became a part of this patchwork family.
Trouble came to her when she and Gaederon, her foster brother, discovered a love between them that went deeper than that of a brother and sister. Trebore saw this and did all he could to stop it, even managing to wrestle from her the inner hurts she had kept hidden so long. After many talks and more than a little trouble, she and Gaederon agreed to keep their relationship nothing more than that of a brother and sister but not until after the two had kissed twice. The tension between the two, however, did not cease as Gaederon's intended, Sillvena, made brief visits.
One day, a young man by the name of Merdan arrived in the hold and took a liking to Alexan, causing her to become quite defensive at first but soon discovered in him someone who had suffered a life much like hers. The two began to spend more and more time together, even after he became apprenticed to the weaver hall, and he presented her with an ear cuff as a promise of their handfasting as soon as he could make journeyman.
Her life took a curious turn as she decided to enter the Smith craft, using the excuse that 'someone has to look after that sharding foster brother of mine'. Sillvena returned and Merdan's sister, Fiera, came to take Alexan's place in the kitchens, soon followed by the arrival of Fiera's friend, Lyllya. Gaederon fell, injuring himself and she and Lyllya set about helping him, while Fiera took a different interest in him altogether.
Gaederon healed and life went on until the day that he decided that it was over with Sillvena, sending Alexan into yet another fit of moodiness. She thought of her life and the children that Merdan wanted and found herself no longer able to face that future. She had helped to raise eight children and had no desire to have them right away, if at all. A commission came from the weavers for glass buttons in the form of leaves and she poured herself into the work, receiving assistance from Gaederon, trying to forget her troubles and move on with her craft.
Finally, no longer able to hold in the dread she felt at facing the future she and Merdan had planned, she told Gaederon of her plans to reach journeyman and have the unwanted children, keeping her work just good enough to get by and nothing more. After all, how could she care for so many children and still keep up the work she would have as a smith? The two finally confessed their feelings and began planning on a future together.. until Alexan turned in her knot and left for Fort Hold to join Gaederon in his posting.
The time came, however, for Gaederon to return to the hall and Alexan followed. The two returned to find out that the master who had been teaching the making of glass had had to leave suddenly for health reasons, leaving no one to give the much needed lessons. Alexan, being one to pitch in and work wherever needed, took over the glass teaching and eventually earned the rank of Journeyman.
Now life is a whirl of activity and teaching, making free time a much longed for thing.
Firelizards
Rylan
Light blue, almost white, wars with a darker, colder color along this long and lanky 'lizard's hide. Larger than most blues, his elongated neck and lengthy tapering tail add substance if not strength. Large, awkward 'knobs are chilled with a small sprinkling of frosty white that continues along his spinal ridges and limns his transluscent wings before warming up to melt into a softer sky color near his talons.
Draco
Serpentine, but with sleek, feline curves, this aggresive firelizard is truly a dragon in miniature. Taut azure hide careens from muscle to large muscle, and show a translucence in the large wingsails. Perfection is carved into his very features, as is a sense of dominance. Slanted eyeridges show feisty nature, as well as short tempered, but luck is always with the blue, even if his ego is beyond him.
 Belle
Frail and fine, almost effete, in appearance, he holds himself with conscious poise, ever displaying his powder blue frame to its best advantage. Delicately chiselled head merges smoothly with sinuous neck, crowned with verdigris speckles, and more than a touch of perverse whim gleams in possessive eyes. Membranous wings glow a nearly translucent ice blue mirrored by ridges while impertinent tail gleams sapphire at its spatulate tip.
 Valoran
Icy tendrils of palest blue wash his cerulean hide, especially along the tips of angular 'ridges and pointed wings. Wiry limbs seem stuck onto his body mechanically, his wings almost haphazard, but all combined, he moves far more fluidly than the clockwork machine he resembles. Pale frost flicks the spikey tip of his tail, and long claws' clatter makes the only sound when he walks.
Culann
Tawny ochre shades constantly twitching tail's tip, mingling with nut brown on slender body; faint dappling of beige appears on muscled flanks, lightening otherwise dark hide. Wings of ecru are brindled by golden highlights in Rukbat's rays, the thin membranes stretched over 'spars of bright hazel. Forepaws are touched by cinnamon's firey shade, talons dull black against their bright backdrop. Neckridges are painted in vivid russets, leading up to bright wedge-shaped head.
